High pallet stackers - an economical choice for low stock turnover
Find out everything you need to know about the most important stacker models, their application fields, and their advantages and disadvantages.
Profile: Indoor use, manual or electric, transportation, stacking and loading up to 2.5t load capacity and 5.5m lift height.
High pallet stackers are constructed similarly to low pallet stackers, but have a lift mast so that they are able to stack goods in addition to horizontal transport. To ensure good stability while lifting loads, a counterweight is required. Generally, this consists of the battery and drive unit, as well as the operating area on a high pallet stacker. They are used primarily in applications where the goods turnover is not high enough to require a counterbalance truck, but where good load capacity and lift height are needed. In addition, they are agile and easy to operate, and much less expensive to purchase and maintain than counterbalance trucks. There are high pallet stackers with a manual lift, called hand stackers, and with a mechanical lift. The manual lift is operated via a hydraulic pump. The forks are lowered using a valve that can be opened with a hand or foot lever. However, electric high pallet stackers are more common, and like low pallet stackers are available as pedestrian trucks, stand-up forklifts or sit-on stackers.
Pedestrian stackers, walkie stackers
Pedestrian stackers are high pallet stackers that are steered with a tow bar, requiring the “driver” to walk along with them. Therefore, they are also called walkie stackers. Manual stackers must also be pulled or pushed, which can be difficult given that they weigh 300kg before any goods are added. Semi-electric lift trucks and fully electric high pallet stackers offer better comfort and require less force, because the “driver” only needs to guide the stacker as they walk, thanks to the electric drive.
Ride-on stackers, stand-up forklifts
These lift trucks offer the driver the option of standing to ride on them, and are also called ride-on stackers. Some variants have a fold-down driver's platform, so that the high pallet stacker can be used both as a pedestrian stacker or stand-up forklift. However, there are also models with an enclosed standing area, so that the driver stands on the side and has a protective roof, forming a kind of cabin. A forklift with ride-on option is a good choice especially for longer transportation distances.
Sit-on stackers, lateral seat forklifts
These ride-on stackers offer a seat for the driver which faces transverse to the direction of travel. A lateral seat forklift can be used to easily cover over 100m of transportation distance and up to 5 operating hours per day. For better handling capacity, consider purchasing a reach truck. However, reach trucks are significantly more expensive.
Electric high pallet stackers are universally used in logistics applications. At Supralift, you can purchase or rent used forklifts from manufacturers such as Linde, Jungheinrich, STILL, BT or Toyota.
