Used sideloaders are used, similar to reach trucks, to transport long, bulky goods. In the timber, steel and plastics industries, these trucks are ideally suited for loading long pipes, boards or slats, for example.
The special feature of sideloaders is the lateral position of the fork in the middle of a platform. The platform stabilizes the long goods so that they do not fall off the fork while the truck is moving. The fork mounted sideways to the direction of travel makes loading and transport in narrow aisles possible.
4-way sideloaders are also equipped with a platform, with the fork positioned in the middle. They are even more manoeuvrable because their wheels can each be rotated by 90 degrees. This allows them to travel in all directions and practically turn on the spot. Depending on the application, electric, diesel or gas drives are possible. The trucks can lift loads of up to 6,000 kg to heights of up to 8 metres.
