Polyurethane Tyres
Polyurethane Tyres are solid tyres with the polyurethane vulcanised directly on to the
wheel rim. Polyurethane is an artificial rubber but with a much higher compression factor.
The carrying capacity of a polyurethane tyre compared with an equal diameter rubber tyre
is about twice as high. Polyurethane Tyres are non-marking tyres. The high compression
factor allows the use of smaller diameter tyres in certain narrow-aisle trucks.
Disadvantages:
- • less shock absorption because of smaller wheel diameters.
- • less driving comfort.
Advantages:
- • higher load capacity
- • longer tyre life
