Used Diesel Forklift Trucks - 2376 offers

Diesel forklifts are used very frequently because diesel technology makes very powerful engines possible and rated capacities of up to 90 tonnes can be achieved.

The high load capacity makes diesel forklifts real workhorses in all areas of logistics, even in container handling. Diesel engines are also very robust, durable and resilient, which is why diesel-powered used forklifts can achieve good resale prices.

Indoors, diesel vehicles are only permitted to a very limited extent, as exhaust gases and operating noise in enclosed warehouses can pose considerable health risks. For indoor use, used gas forklifts and used electric forklifts are therefore recommended.

Diesel engines are usually water- or air-cooled. In addition to special industrial engines, derated truck or car engines are also used. Vehicles are also available in which a diesel engine drives a generator that produces energy for driving and lifting.

The term diesel forklift mainly refers to classic 4-wheel counterbalanced forklifts with load-side driven wheels, with particularly powerful models equipped with twin tyres on the drive axle. Many other forklift types are also equipped with diesel drives as standard, but their type names describe the application area, for example rough terrain forklifts, container handlers, telescopic forklifts and others.

The travel speeds of diesel counterbalanced forklifts vary greatly. Top speeds of 50 km/h can certainly be reached, meaning that some vehicles can also take part in road traffic. If road approval is required, special tyres and lighting, among other things, must be installed.

At Supralift you will find diesel forklift offers from brands such as Jungheinrich, Linde, STILL, Toyota, Hyster, Clark and many more.

Is a used diesel forklift the best choice for you?

Diesel forklifts are widely used in construction, agriculture, industry and trade. Buying a used diesel forklift can be a good choice, as used diesel forklifts are cheaper than new vehicles.

What are the advantages of diesel forklifts?

HIGH PERFORMANCE and ROBUSTNESS
Forklifts with internal combustion engines are very powerful and reliable even off-road on uneven surfaces. They are designed for outdoor use and are very robust.

LOWER PURCHASE PRICE
The purchase costs for diesel forklifts are generally lower. Since forklifts lose value especially in the first few years, a well-maintained used diesel forklift can be particularly worthwhile.

CONTINUOUS USE
Since refuelling is very quick, diesel forklifts can be used continuously, for example in shift operation.

EXTENSIVE MODEL RANGE
Diesel forklifts are available for almost all areas of application, from smaller load capacity classes to container handlers and telehandlers with very high lift heights.

What are the disadvantages of diesel forklifts?

EMISSIONS and NOISE
Internal combustion engines produce harmful exhaust gases and the engine noise can be very loud.

LIMITED FLEXIBILITY and RANGE OF USE
Due to exhaust gases, diesel forklifts should not be used in enclosed spaces such as warehouses. Transport from outdoor to indoor areas is not possible with diesel forklifts.

HIGHER OPERATING COSTS
Diesel forklifts are more expensive than other drive types over their entire service life. This applies to fuel costs as well as maintenance costs, as internal combustion engines have more moving parts.

NECESSARY INFRASTRUCTURE
Forklifts are generally not allowed to be driven on public roads. Therefore, an infrastructure for fuel supply must be created and maintained for diesel forklifts.

CONCLUSION

Diesel forklifts are costly, but for most outdoor applications there are few better alternatives.
If the forklift is mainly needed for indoor use, an electric forklift may be more suitable.
If the long battery charging times are a problem, a gas forklift can be the ideal choice.

What distinguishes electric forklifts from gas forklifts?

ELECTRIC FORKLIFT
The electric drive is emission-free, making these forklifts more environmentally friendly and quieter than diesel forklifts. They are suitable for use in enclosed spaces and warehouses. Electric motors require less maintenance and are therefore also cheaper than diesel forklifts in terms of fuel costs. Electric forklifts are usually more expensive to buy. While the battery is charging, the forklift cannot be used.

GAS FORKLIFT
Gas combustion produces low emissions, so gas forklifts are also suitable for indoor use. As a rule, liquid gas from a gas cylinder is used, which can be replaced quickly. Gas forklifts therefore do not have long downtimes and are suitable for shift work as well as outdoor use.

PETROL and HYBRID FORKLIFTS
Petrol engines hardly play a role in forklifts anymore, as diesel drive has become established. Hybrid forklifts also have an internal combustion engine; the power supply to the electric motor is regulated by a generator and a control unit. This can significantly reduce exhaust emissions and noise levels, and the electrically operated brake is also wear-free.
