Travel Speed

The maximum Travel Speed of a forklift is limited to prevent the vehicle from operating in unstable conditions. Some vehicles also contain automatic deceleration in turns.

• Manual pedestrian equipment

- are limited in speed to 6 km/h
- Exception: vehicles without infinite speed regulation - single speed construction without lift capabilities are limited to 4 km/h

• Stackers with operators platform

- are limited to 16 km/h

• Forklifts with drivers seat or stand-on compartment

- No speed restriction applies - however the individual vehicles must pass all safety and stability regulations and tests.

• Order Picking vehicles

- are limited to 2.5 km/h (creep speed) when performing certain tasks and also above specified heights

• Transporting flammable liquids

- recommended restriction to walking speed
