Service brake
Service Brake
Device for decelerating the travel speed of motor/engine-driven industrial trucks. It is normally actuated in the same way as in automobiles by pressing down the brake pedal. An exception to this method is the dead man's brake where pressing down the pedal releases the brake. At the same time it is used as immobilising brake when leaving the truck. Industrial trucks with driver's stand and elevatable operating platform are equipped with dead man's brakes. In tiller-shaft-controlled industrial trucks the braking action and simultaneously switching off the drive current is achieved by pushing the tiller control shaft up or down, each represents a brake position.
