Reinforced concrete floor
Reinforced Concrete Floor
Floors made of concrete and steel reinforcements for the separation of levels in multi-storey buildings. Reinforcements used are steel wire mesh and girders. The properties and effects of the combination of concrete and steel add to each other. While concrete features high resistance to pressure, steel reinforcements have the ability to absorb shearing and tensile forces. The advantages resulting from the combination of concrete and steel are of special importance for floors. A special type of concrete is pre-stressed concrete. If doweling is required in concrete floors, heavy reinforcement inserts must be avoided in the doweling area. The position of the reinforcements are taken down in the reinforcement drawing.
