Motive Power
The following types of motive power are used in material handling transport equipment:
- • Diesel
- • LPGas
- • Electrical (AC, DC)
- • Mechanical (Manual)
The Hybrid drive is a combination of two or more motive types e.g. Diesel and electrical drive. The advantage of this motive power is a flexible adaptation to various environments. As an example a forklift may operate in an open environment powered by a IC engine and when running indoors switch over to electric. The motor could also be used to charge the battery used during the electrical application.
