FEM
FEM is an acronym for the European
Organisation of Transport Manufacturers (Fédération Européenne de la Manutention).
The main function of the FEM:
- • forge and document technical & safety standards as recommendations to the members of the organization
- • capture and distribute statistical information relevant to all member manufacturers
The organisation is subdivided into technical sections in which section IV handles material handling transport equipment and develops:
- • FEM Safety Regulations
- • Suggestions in performing stability testing (how to & results)
- • form a basis to coordinate standardisation of the fork carriage dimensions
The FEM has branches in many European countries, the (Nationalkommitees) is located in Frankfurt Germany: "Deutsches Nationalkomitee der FEM" (im Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V. (VDMA)) Frankfurt, Germany
