Charger
The charger has to be correctly matched to the battery i.e.
for the appropriate nominal voltage and its start-of-charge current
must be that recommended by the manufacturer to suit the cell capacity.
Material Handling Vehicles with battery power need to re-charge the batteries
with a charger at the charging station. Some smaller trucks have a built-in charger.
This offers the advantage that the battery(s) could be charged at any time and
anywhere an electrical outlet is available. Factors to be taken into account
in choosing the right charger to meet specific application requirements are:
(a) 12 hour or 8 hour charging period
(b) type of AC mains supply to be used (single phase, three phase)
(c) voltage
