Normally forklift trucks are equipped with a mast on which the forks can be moved vertically up and down. Telehandlers have no mast, the forks are attached to a telescopic arm with a higher mobility. For this reason telehandlers are also called telescopic arm forklifts.
Due to the telescopic arm liftheights up to 30m can be reached with a maximum capacity up to 21t. Telehandlers normally are used in agriculture and construction industry. Therefore they are mostly equipped with 4wheel drive and diesel-powered.
Telescopic arm forklifts are also available with rotateable cabin and telescopic arm to increase the maneuverability. Rotateable telehandlers are also called rotor telehandlers.
The telescopic arm allows to attach a lot of other attachments, thus telehandlers can be used as a crane for instance. Even Reach Stackers, have similar characteristics, but lift much heavier loads and are used for containerhandling in common.
